    The Research Associate position will be involved in initiation of a qualitative research project as part of the First Nations Suicide Prevention Programmatic Grant. The research associate will coordinate research and communication between the University of Manitoba Suicide Prevention Ream and the Swampy Cree Tribal Council (SCTC).

    The eight communities of the SCTC located in Northwest Manitoba are: 1) Mathias Colomb Cree Nation, 2) Marcel Colomb First Nation, 3) Opaskwayak Cree Nation, 4) Grand Rapids First Nation, 5) Chemawawin Cree Nation, 6) Mosakahiken Cree Nation, 7) Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation, and 8) Sapotaweyak Cree Nation.

    Under the direction of the Director of Research the successful candidate will have numerous responsibilities, which may include:

    Coordinate and undertake qualitative interviews and focus groups in the Swampy Cree Tribal Council Region In collaboration with the academic team members, analyze the qualitative data produced through the interviews and focus groups Assist in the development of research proposals, publications, and presentations for the Suicide Prevention Team Conduct literature reviews for the study�s sub-projects Coordinate meetings between the academic team members, SCTC team, and the SCTC communities
    The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a collaborative team environment, but should also be capable of working in a self-directed fashion. More>>
