John C. Dvorak's Inside Track
Another Bad Idea Bites the Dust Dept.: Palm wised up and killed that Foleo micro laptop project. No one wants this form factor. It began with the Gateway Handbook, deteriorated into the Toshiba Libretto, then mutated into the OQO after a few other exercises in futility. The Palm decision supposedly happened because Apple's iPhone has challenged the smartphone category, and Palm now wants to concentrate on smartphones. Everyone wants to, despite the rather small market. Microsoft even says it would seriously consider developing a Zune phone. I hope Microsoft calls it the PhoZune. Get the URL now! Numerous Zune fanboy sites (yes, they exist) have been trying to guess at the name. Some ideas: the Z-phone, the Pune, the Zell Phone, Telezune, MicroPhone (get it?), Zobile, Zone, etc. More>>

U-God Sues RZA Over Unpain Fees
This summer, RZA faced criticism from Ghostface and Raekwon regarding the Wu's new album, as well as RZAs business ethics. This week, Wu-Tang member U-God went after RZA's pocket book, as he filed a $170,000 lawsuit. The lawsuit is the culmination of what U-God claims to be multiple problems with Wu-Tang Music Group, stretching over the past year. According to the 37 year old emcee, RZA failed to live up an agreement set forth in May 2007. At that time, U-God singed a contract with RZA which laid out payment plans for the Wu-Tang's recently released 8 Diagrams, their Rock The Bells show dates, as well as publishing. He claims that he has yet to receive any payments. U-God has spoken out against RZA in the past, in effect echoing the criticisms of Raekwon and Ghostface, also alleging that the Wu-Tang's abbot has displayed favoritism, and caused disruption in the Clan's cohesiveness. Historic baseball exhibit in Hingham celebrates love of game (Video in ...
The senior Murphy wrote on the ball at the time: "Ball removed from game. I stayed in."And what's this? A team in 1900 with three women? Those are some of the surprises and the mysteries in the historic baseball exhibit on display through Nov. 16 at the Dot Gallery, 112 North St., Hingham."Hingham Base Ball: An Exhibit of Historic Photos, Art & Artifacts" was put together by gallery owner/director Gary Nisbet and Hingham Historical Society director Suzanne Buchanan, with contributions from local residents. It celebrates how baseball started in New England -- with town teams -- and became very popular. The exhibit was inspired by an earlier event Buchanan and Nisbet created to amplify the national pastime and stimulate interest in local history. On Sept. 16, there was a vintage baseball game at Derby Academy, with two fictitious 19th century teams, the Derbys and the Coopers, playing ball by 1890s rules."As word got out about the upcoming game, people started telling us about personal stuff they had, old photographs, uniforms, gloves, artworks and collectibles," Nisbet said.
